Music adds a deeper dimension to the liturgy at Sunday Mass. It reaches us where words cannot. It has the power to uplift us, to inspire us, to communicate to our souls in ways that words cannot. From the prelude through the closing song music provides a ministry that combines with the spoken word and other elements to create a true worship experience.

The St. Maria Goretti Music Ministry strives to foster full and active participation in the liturgy through song and praise (see Our Objective). Our carefully selected liturgical music choices - ranging from medieval chant and traditional hymns to the most recently published contemporary literature - aim to inspire a worshipful response from everyone present.

We offer a wide variety of musical opportunities for parishioners of all ages and ability levels and are blessed to have musically inclined young people and adults that freely give of their time and talent on a weekly basis.

At the same time, we are continually building our ministry, welcoming new members to our choir, cantor groups and instrumentalist ensembles as they are the lifeblood of our ministry. The more support the music ministry receives the better it can help make our liturgies engaging and memorable experiences.

Whether you would like to sing or play an instrument or get involved otherwise helping hands are always needed - you will be joining like-minded people with whom you will share many wonderful moments making music and lively fellowship.

Get involved! Come and take the plunge! Express your talent and take advantage of one of the musical opportunities available here at SMG

Bach gave us God's word, Mozart gave us God's laughter, Beethoven gave us God's fire. God gave us music that we might pray without words.
