Ministry of Care

Those involved in the Ministry of Care may take Communion to the sick and homebound, assist at funerals, or help make prayer blankets.

Ministry of Care

If you are in the hospital, in a nursing home, or confined to your home for any length of time, those involved in the Ministry of Care will gladly come to visit you and bring you Holy Communion.  We want you to know that we care about you and miss you.

Please call the parish office, 219-865-8956, to arrange a Minister of Care to visit you either at home, hospital, or nursing home.

The ministry is a wonderful opportunity to be Christ to others. Please contact Deacon Phil Muvich if you are interested in volunteering for this ministry. Prayer Blanket  Ministry

This ministry involves the making of lap-size fleece blankets that are given to those who are either sick or going through extremely difficult times in their life.  The blankets are gifts from the community reminding the sick that they are not alone and that we are “covering them in prayer”.  The blankets are prayed over and each person who receives a prayer blanket is remembered in prayer at Mass. There is a gathering several times during the year to make blankets. To help with this ministry or if you know of someone who is seriously ill and you would like to take a blanket to them, please call the parish office, 219-865-8956.

Bereavement Ministry

Our Bereavement ministry is available to families at the time of the death of a loved one. They are present at funerals to assist and greet families. Families are offered the opportunity to plan and personalize the funeral liturgy.  Working with one of our bereavement ministers, all aspects of the funeral liturgy can be arranged in a participation booklet that can include a picture of the deceased, and a record of the music, Scripture, and those who participated at the funeral.
